The Future is Now

SA’s current and former School Stars Shine on the Global & National Stage and There’s More to Come This Weekend!

Weekend/IPT Wrap‑Up: Junior Boks triumph, SA Schools dominate and KZN finish on top! 🇿🇦🏉🏑

It was another weekend of big wins and even bigger statements from South Africa’s rising stars. The SA Schools team cruised to victory at HS Middelburg with a commanding 49-14 win over SA Schools A, led once again by the electric Zekhetelo Siyaya, who bagged his second hat-trick in the match, as he did crossed over for three in last year’s match at Monument. Last week, Western Province once again proved why they’re the team to beat at the FNB U18 Craven Week. With another unbeaten run and a dominant all-round showing, as they captured their 6th title in a row, cementing their legacy as kings of schoolboy rugby with a 27-21 win over SWD.

The Junior Springboks were crowned World Rugby U20 Champions after a bruising 23-15 win over old foes New Zealand in Italy, capturing the title for the first time since 2012 against the same oppostion. It was a textbook South African performance, built on fierce defence and set-piece dominance. What makes this even more special? Just two years ago, many of these players were lighting up the SuperSport Schools platform. Today, they’re U20 world champs…tomorrow, potential Springboks?

KZN Coastal A were crowned 2025 SASHOC Girls’ National Week Champions in the u16 A-Section, after a dramatic tournament run that saw them edge past some of the top teams in the country. Meanwhile, in the Boys’ U16 A-Section category, Southerns delivered a clinical performance in the final, smashing Eastern Province 8-1 to claim the national title in style.

Boyall was in unstoppable form at the 2025 SASHOC U16 National Week, delivering one of the standout individual performances of the tournament. Representing KZN Coastal A, the talented striker finished as the top goal scorer, finding the back of the net nine times to lead her team all the way to the U16 National Title. Her attacking instincts, composure under pressure and relentless work rate helped guide KZN Coastal to a win over Eastern Province A in the final.

Currently in school at Our Lady of Fatima Dominican Convent School in Durban, Charley-Rose’s exceptional week earned her a deserved selection to the SA U16 Girls’ Team, affirming her place among the top young hockey prospects in the country.

#TimetoSHINE✨- July SPOTLIGHT

This month’s feature in the July SPOTLIGHT on SuperSport Schools is the Junior Springboks.

History was made in Rovigo, Italy, as South Africa’s U20 side claimed a thrilling victory over New Zealand to win the 2025 World Rugby U20 Championship, their first title since 2012. In a pulsating final that showcased the next generation of global rugby stars, the Junior Boks delivered a commanding performance, blending physical dominance with tactical maturity to lift the trophy and cement their place as world champions.

This long-awaited triumph is more than just a title, it’s proof of a system working, of a pipeline fulfilling its promise. For SuperSport Schools, it’s a moment that echoes one of our core beliefs that World Cups are won 10 years before they’re played. Many of the heroes who stood tall in Rovigo began their journey on our screens, in school jerseys at Craven Week and other Youth Week tournaments.

We’ve seen them rise through the ranks. We’ve seen the sweat, the setbacks and the standout moments. Now, we see them as champions of the world. And soon, we’ll see many of these names in green and gold, the future Springboks, forged through opportunity, exposure, and belief.

This isn’t just a win for South African rugby. It’s a win for every coach, school, parent, and supporter who believes in the journey. And it’s a reminder that the next generation of greats is already here and we’ll be there to bring you every step of their story.
