As the year winds down, we wrap up the 2024 School Sports season with the Summer IPTs in December. This week, the spotlight is on the SWPSA Water Polo IPTs for U13, U14, U15, U16, and U19 age groups, running from 7–11 December. The U19 tournament will be held at East London’s iconic Joan Harrison Swimming Pools. Then the following week, the Cricket IPTs take centre stage, with the prestigious Khaya Majola Cricket Week taking place at Rondebosch Boys’ High from 16–20 December.

In this segment, we celebrate the Girls and Women in our ecosystem, from employees, to school and youth athletes. All the amazing women that contribute to the SuperSport Schools Brand!

This month’s feature is Zalika Methula.

Having represented South Africa at the World Aquatics Championship last year in Diving, the St Mary’s Waverley matriculant has taken another massive leap in 2024! She placed first placed in the Bergen Open Competition in Norway alongside fellow diver, Keratile Manaka in May this year. The pair became the first South African divers to win medals on the international stage!

Zalika has earned a scholarship to dive at the University of Kentucky in the USA next year, as she takes another step to reach the Los Angeles Olympic Games in 2028!

This month’s first feature in the November SPOTLIGHT on SuperSport Schools is Kwena Maphaka.

The St Stithians College matriculant has already made such a massive name for himself, widely regarded as one of the best Cricket prospects, not just in South Africa, but the world!

After breaking a record, becoming the youngest player to represent the Proteas at T20 level, he’s set to make his test debut for the Green and Gold, after being called up to replace the injured Gerald Coetzee in the second test against Sri Lanka later this week.
