SuperSport Schools Festival Season 🏆
What a weekend of school sports! Two of the country’s premier basketball tournaments took centre stage, with Westville Boys’ High School claiming victory at the Jenny Orchard Invitational, while Northwood School successfully defended their title at the Standard Bank St John’s Basketball Tournament. The action was fast, the competition fierce, and the next generation of basketball stars proved their class on the court.
In the next two weeks, get ready for even more top-tier school sports! The KES Water Polo Tournament makes a splash from 28 Feb – 3 March, live on Channel 216, followed by a showcase of elite talent at the T&F Athletics meet in KZN on 5 March at Msunduzi Stadium. On 7 March, the Mzwandile Mali Rugby Festival semi-finals will bring the heat, streaming live on SABC Plus. The best young athletes are stepping up, don’t miss a moment!

SuperSport Schools' travel partner, Airlink, has been honoured with the 2025 Ubuntu Economic Diplomacy Award (Africa) by the Department of International Relations & Cooperation. This award recognises Airlink’s role in strengthening South Africa’s reputation as a prime business destination and its contribution to socio-economic growth across the continent.
The accolade highlights Airlink’s impact in job creation, trade facilitation, and investment attraction in Africa. Dr Namhla Tshetu, Executive Manager Corporate Services, accepted the award on behalf of Airlink at the prestigious Ubuntu Awards ceremony held in Cape Town.

With her leadership and standout performances, Thonga is proving that the future of South African Women’s basketball is in great hands!

This month’s feature in the February SPOTLIGHT on SuperSport Schools is Litha Kraai
At just 17 years old, the Class of 2024 alum has already etched his name into South African hockey history. The SACS star became the youngest player ever to win a hockey medal for South Africa, securing bronze with the SA Men's Indoor team at the FIH Indoor World Cup. Not only did he hold his own on the world stage, but he also found the back of the net during the tournament, showcasing his immense talent and bright future in the sport.
