Celebrating our Girls and Women
Our campaign draws to a close with the final feature on Itumeleng Banda, a remarkable young voice and athlete who embodies what it means to take up space in sport. Her story is one of courage and determination, reminding us why it is so important to keep shining a light on women and girls making their mark.

Proudly in collaboration with Spar South Africa!
SuperSport Schools #HereforHER Feature 🩷 💪

In this segment, we celebrate the Girls and Women in our ecosystem, from employees, to school and youth athletes. All the amazing women that contribute to the SuperSport Schools Brand!
This month’s second feature is Delaine Mentoor

Mentoor made history as she became one of South Africa’s most influential figures in water polo, both in and out of the pool. A former national player turned coach, she etched her name into the record books as the first and only woman to serve as a head coach at an Olympic Games. Her journey is a testament to breaking barriers in her sport and she continues to inspire young athletes by proving that with talent, dedication and courage, there are no limits to what can be achieved.
Today, Mentoor plays a crucial role in shaping the next generation of water polo stars. Her insights as a coach and mentor extend beyond tactics and results, she brings a focus on resilience, leadership, and the importance of representation in sport. Whether on the sidelines of international tournaments or on the panel in new SuperSport Schools magazine show, Elevate Water Polo on 216, she is committed to growing the game, developing pathways for young athletes and ensuring South African water polo continues to rise on the global stage.
What’s coming on SuperSport Schools 📺📲
SuperSport Schools Key Events for the Month of September, brought to you by Airlink! ✈️
Investing in Future High-flyers
Airlink recently handed over a retired Embraer 135 passenger jet to the Gauteng Department of Basic Education. The aircraft now forms part of the aviation training facilities at Rhodesfield Engineering School of Specialisation in Kempton Park.
Once part of our fleet, this aircraft will give students practical exposure to aviation systems and engineering, turning classroom lessons into tangible experiences.
Acting Principal Caroline Ngxanga called it an “invaluable teaching aid” for her Grade 11 and 12 aviation learners, while Gauteng MEC Matome Chiloane described the donation as a way to prepare students for careers in high-demand industries. For Airlink, it is a way of investing in the future of flight.
Two young women engineers, both trained at Airlink, will spend two years at the school as instructors, guiding the next generation of aviation professionals in the skills that will shape their careers.

Congratulations to Mianè Smit and Karabo Meso on their selection for the ICC Women’s World Cup 2025. 🏏
From schools’ cricket to the biggest stage, the journey is only just beginning. 🔥

#TimetoSHINE✨- September Spotlight
This month’s second feature in the MONTHLY SPOTLIGHT on SuperSport Schools is Karabo Meso

Photo: Cricket South Africa
Meso, the 17-year-old wicket-keeper batter from Steyn City High School, has been turning heads for a while with her outstanding all-round talent. In the Schools SA20 Final Showdown in March, she smashed an unbeaten 117 runs against Saints Christian School, steering Steyn City to a resounding 61-run victory to clinch the title. That performance capped off a tournament where she amassed 228 runs in just four innings and earning her both the Player of the Tournament and Batter of the Tournament awards.
Her stellar form has shown on the national stage too, she has recently been selected for South Africa’s Women’s Cricket World Cup squad taking place in India and Sri Lanka at the end of the month. It’s a huge moment for someone who has proved she can perform under pressure, lead from the front and shine in big matches. Steyn City’s rising star is well on her way to becoming a regular feature in the Proteas lineup.
