A Season of Breaking Barriers
Bidding farewell to Summer Sports!
The month in review
As February draws to a close, SuperSport Schools reflects on a month filled with remarkable achievements and thrilling moments in the world of school and youth sports. From ground-breaking broadcasting advancements to exhilarating athletics meets. We saw multiple athletics records being broken live on the SuperSport Schools App and Channel 216, including a World Athletics 300Mm record at the recent Curro Podium event at Pilditch Stadium, Pretoria (see the full story below).
The summer season has been filled with wonderful cricket, water polo, and basketball festivals and derbies across the country as well as several tennis, squash, diving, and swimming events that we have been able to stream and broadcast. March sees the transition from summer into the winter season and we are excited to be streaming and broadcasting some incredible rugby, hockey, netball, and football events over the Easter period, and going into April.
What’s next on SuperSport Schools:
March, April, and May have some exciting upcoming events. Read below for more details. Our travel partners AIRLINK, BLUU Car Rental, and City Lodge have got you covered while you are on the road.
𝗦𝘂𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗦𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁 𝗦𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗹𝘀 makes broadcasting history in 𝗦𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗵 𝗔𝗳𝗿𝗶𝗰𝗮
Johannesburg, February 2024- SuperSport Schools has reached another milestone by delivering the first-ever automated, AI-produced live linear television broadcast for DSTV Channel 216.
“This could not have been possible without the support of ITV Africa and Telemedia who both provided exceptional operational and technological support to this production.
“We would also like to thank Chris Luman, the Headmaster at Maritzburg College for agreeing to use the prestigious Jenny Orchard Tournament as our guinea pig event for this innovation, said Kelvin Watt, CEO of SuperSport Schools
#TimetoSHINE✨- FEBRUARY SPOTLIGHT
This month’s SPOTLIGHT on SuperSport Schools is on Esihle Zondo.
Zondo is known for her heroics in the pool and as a regular member of the South African Water Polo team. However, the former Durban Girls’ College pupil is contributing to the growth and development of the sport in South Africa. She was included in the national side which participated at the World Aquatics Championship in Doha earlier this month.
She is honing her skills in front of the microphone and currently commentates for SuperSport Schools.
