National Bragging Rights

FNB Youth Weeks and SASHOC Nationals are in full swing these Winter school holidays!

Weekend Wrap‑Up: WP’s Hockey Supremacy, Sharks Shine & Netball Stars Emerge 🏑🏉🏐

The SASHOC U18 National Week echoed with excellence as Boland claimed the girls’ championship and Western Province triumphed in the boys’ tournament, both in Pietermaritzburg. Boland swept all before them for a dominating win , while captain Leah du Plessis led Boland A to glory with a brace in their 3–0 final victory over KZN Coastal A, earning player of the tournament and top striker honours

Over at the FNB Grant Khomo Week, the Sharks U16 boys produced a statement‑making performance, dismantling defending champions WP 51–28 in their unofficial final at St Alban’s College in Pretoria. Fly‑half Daniel Miskey orchestrated the backline attack perfectly, scoring 16 points with boots and slick support play .

In the FNB U18 Girls Week, both Northern and Cape provincial teams impressed with consistent form. Notably, Boland posted a 20–5 win over the Pumas on day two, signalling strong depth and cohesion across the field.

Lastly, the SASN All Ages Netball tournament at EG Jansen was a true celebration of emerging talent. Province-based teams from U12–U16 showcased elite skills, with the tournament culminating in the naming of the SA Top 12 netball talents, including standouts like Francesca Kante-Heumou (Gauteng), Lianel Groenewald (W-Cape), and Orefile Magoro (Limpopo) .
