Rondebosch retain the Ian Melliar Cup, Saints take St Anne’s title and Wynberg dominate Paarl Gim.
Weekend Review | 26–28 September 2025 🏏🏐
It was another packed weekend of school sport, with water polo and cricket producing thrilling moments and standout performances.
In the pool, Rondebosch Boys’ High successfully defended their title at the Ian Melliar Cup, once again proving their dominance in one of the country’s top schoolboy water polo tournaments. Their consistency and skill across the weekend left no doubt as to who rules the Cape’s biggest stage. Meanwhile in KwaZulu-Natal, St Stithians Girls’ College celebrated a magical moment of their own, lifting the St Anne’s Water Polo Tournament trophy after edging past a strong field. Their victory was marked by grit and teamwork, securing Saints’ place among the top girls’ sides in the country.
On the cricket front, Wynberg Boys’ High showcased their class in a seven-wicket victory over Paarl Gimnasium, with Ihsan Khan and Qaeed Shaik steering Berg to victory in style. Up in Bloemfontein, St Andrew’s School battled to a draw with St Benedicts College. With the summer sports season now in full swing, these results hint at an exciting run of cricket still to come.
