School Sport returns for the business end of the Winter Season.

Return of School Sports!

School sports returned with a bang this past weekend, with a whole host of fixtures and tournaments that took place. The intensity and high quality of sports that we saw in the Winter IPTs definitely filtered into the schools.

The SDC Noordvaal Rugby and DStv U19 Netball Challenge produced high-scoring and mouthwatering results, where some of the best schools in the country competed against one another. Affies Mesies were crowned champions of the DStv U19 Netball Challenge, narrowly beating Paarl Gim in the final. We were also treated to a Premier Interschools rugby clash between Outeniqua and Paarl Gim, which ended in a 10-10 stalemate.

A few shock results and some blowouts in the other fixtures really signify the return of school sports and indicate that we should be in for a great ending to the Winter season!

DERBY DAY MATCH UPS!!

The business end of the Winter season is often loaded with derby day fixtures, and this coming weekend is no different!

The Big Joburg derby between Jeppe and KES will be one to watch out for, with both schools being strong on the rugby field and hockey astro. In Gqeberha, Grey High School will host Grey College in a Premier Interschools clash, with Grey College heavily favored. However, as we all know in derby matches, anything can happen. The other Premier Interschools clash will see two Paarl schools, Paarl Girls, take on La Rochelle in netball.

There are two FNB Classic Clashes to look forward to. Border rugby giants, Selborne College, will take on Queen’s College, while in Pietermaritzburg, Maritzburg College will host an old foe, Pretoria Boys’ High School. Stellenbosch will also be split as Rhenish Girls take on HS Bloemhof.
